Hey all it's been a while since I updated this blog. But remember that's because I have my own website at www.shannonshorr.com and regularly blog there. Also, as a friendly reminder Cardplayer carries my blog so you can read it there as well. Just giving an update on here for when I post on others' blogs.
Ok, my summer and since I last posted. I've "only" cashed 6 times since I last posted but those 6 cashes include 4 from the WSOP and 2 from the Bellagio Cup (sidenote: because of Summer 2006 and this one now I may be most famous and successful player ever at the BC...read the rest of blog to find out why).
My first big cash of the summer came when I took runner-up in event #7 for just shy of $350,000 American dollars. It was in a $2,000 buy in and I took 2nd to a very talented Matt Keikoan. Had 3 more baby cashes in the WSOP adding up to ~$35,000. I now have 10 cashes lifetime in the WSOP in just 3 years.
Then I started to really heat up in what I guess I should consider my favorite tournament series of all time. I take you back to Bellagio Cup II back in Summer 2006. There I won a prelim event for ~$125,000 before winning the whole damn main event (chopped heavily of course) for what looks like on poker sites $960,690 (In actuality I chopped for about $650k and after paying those who had a piece of me and tipping the tournament staff (which I always do after big scores) I profitted somewhere in the neighborhood of $560,000.) But that was 2 years ago.
On July 6th, 2008 I recorded my first official win without chopping any of the prizepool. This came in a prelim event at Bellagio Cup IV for about $250,000. Just 4 days later I ran hot again and finished 3rd to Jimmy Fricke for $124,000. Sidenote on this tournament: I got it all in 3 handed against Jim for what was about 80% of the tournament chips holding the dominant lead. Jim spiked. I was busted. No hard feelings against Jim or "teh poker gods" either because I've had quite a magic summer.
In all these 6 cashes amounted to 3 final tables, 3 top 3 finishes, 1 outright win, 1 runner up and 1 bronze medal. The cashes were for over three quarters of a million dollars.
I will have a good long update for all of you at my aforementioned own site about life, poker, returning to school, etc etc.
I love you all.

Forgot about this blog
Hey all I forgot about this blog for a bit as my main one at my own website, ShannonShorr.com is going very well. I get thousands of hits a day. Also my blog is being carried at Cardplayer.com which kind of makes me a big deal. :-) just kidding.
Anyways, recent news. Since that first update, my girlfriend and I have broken up. It was fairly mutual. I live with no regrets though and I am happy to be living in Vegas till at least through the summer.
Poker has been going, as Jon Little would say, "Meh". It's been ok. I did have one nice cash, a 3rd place for about $90,000 USD in a prelim tourney at the WPT championship. Also had another 2 final tables in the prelim series for smallish cashes which add up to about 17k. Check out my profiles on cardplayer, or bluff or one of the numerous poker sites which carry live tourney stats. Online has been going meh. The online mtts are tough right now and I think only a very select few could profit in the long term with how things are going. There just aren't as many fish as there used to be. It seems to me that the poker boom has definitely subsided for a bit, and you can notice that in all facets of poker, be it online, live, cash games or tourneys. Been playing a bit of HU cash and have been running a little +ev. Nothing to get excited about, besides I have decided awhile ago to largely keep my online gains and losses to myself. It's nobody's damn business but my own :-). (Another way of saying I don't want too much detail out there for when it comes to tax time, if you know what I mean :-)Just kidding.
Just wanted to give an update for this site, for when I post on other blogs those who click on my profile can get a little update on me. Check out my regular blog at www.shannonshorr.com or go to cardplayer.com and click blogs and find it there.

My poker exploits
I'm 22 years old and a dropout of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I consider myself an MTT live by trade. I do play online as well. Basebal1b at pokerstars and BLUFFforRENT at FTP. Playing in WSOP this summer with my buddies: Jerry JLimbs Limber, Cody Thugmoneymkr Slaubaugh, Mike Bonzo Katz, Adam csimmsux Geyer and Eric Basebaldy Baldwin. We have a sick house we're renting for 2k a month each.
I have a gf named Stephanie Wade who graduated UA last year and is from Huntsville AL. She enjoys travelling with me.
I love travelling and I love winning at poker although it is often a grind. Not sure if I'm going back to UA in fall to do some sort of business major or what, but I have plenty of time to figure that out. My biggest score ever is for Winning the Bellagio Cup II in Summer 2006 for $960,000 but I chopped it for about $650,000 + 10 of me was backed and with the tips I ended up banking about $570,000 for this tourney.
Come back and stay updated. I love you all.
